ADRIAN — The City of Adrian has issued a proclamation recognizing the Adrian-based telescope manufacturer Observable Space, formerly known as PlaneWave Instruments.

Observable Space co-founder and president Rick Hendrick, as well as Vice President of Optics and Mechanical Engineering Kevin Iott, accepted the proclamation from Adrian Mayor Angie Heath at the start of Monday night’s City Commission meeting.

This year, the company received the Michigan Manufacturers Association’s John G. Thotus Award for “their key contributions to the community and the state of Michigan.”

The company was also recognized by the MMA for having this year’s “Coolest Thing Made in Michigan,” the PF-1000 Prime Focus System.

PlaneWave Instruments previously won this award in 2022 for their PW-1000 Observatory System.
