MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has announced the hiring of a new corrections officer.

Sheriff Troy Goodnough confirmed that Corrections Officer Calandra officially joined the department earlier this month.

Calandra grew up in Monroe and is a graduate of Monroe High School. He has also served with the Monroe Charter Township Fire Department for more than a year and is currently attending fire school.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Calandra brings prior public safety experience and community ties to the role.

Outside of work, Calandra enjoys playing guitar, writing music, and spending time with family and friends.

Corrections Officer Calandra was formally sworn in on January 15th.

Sheriff Goodnough said the department continues to focus on recruiting qualified candidates to support operations at the Monroe County Jail.
