Lois Carlin passed away the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Dan Carlin, daughter, Amie (David), Champagne, and daughter, Erin (Josh) Umbaugh; and three beautiful grandchildren, Jessica Champagne (Roger), Anthony Champagne, and Cecelia Umbaugh.
Lois Carlin was born on November 25, 1954 on Thanksgiving Day in Syracuse, New York. She married the love of her life, Dan Carlin, on December 18, 1976. They shared 49 years of love, life, travel, laughter, moves, losses, gains, and all the in-betweens.
Lois was super funny. She loved her crafts, especially quilt making. If you were fortunate enough to have one of her quilts, you should consider yourself blessed. She had a presence about her that when she entered a room, if you didn’t already know her, by the end of the night you would be her friend. She loved caring for her two girls and her husband, but she truly shined when she became a grandma/Yaya. She beamed every time she talked about her grandchildren. They became her whole world. Lois cared deeply for everyone who was close to her and her family. Lois was perfectly in-perfect. She was kind, sweet, forgiving, and silly, just as God intended for her to be. Everyone who shared in her life is better today for having her in their lives.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Thora and Robert Mason, and her younger brother, Edward Mason.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Lois at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Two hours of visitation will precede the Celebration, beginning at 4:00 pm.
