Alma Staup – Blissfield

Alma “June” Staup, age 92 years of Blissfield passed away on Saturday, January17, 2026, at Springcreek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Adrian. She was born on November 12, 1933, in Berkey, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer and Mary Elizabeth (Carter)Shepard. June graduated from Blissfield High School in 1951. She married Dicky Lee Staup on February 28, 1953, in Blissfield. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1987.June worked as a bartender, cook and newspaper reporter. She was known by many as “Grandma JR” or “Aunt June”. June didn’t know a stranger and treated everyone as though they were family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. June was very active in the community as a 4-H Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Blue Birds Leader and Chaplin for the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Her most cherished memories were the family camping trips up north at Robber’s Roost and taking photos as she loved photography. June is survived by her children, Kay (Mel) Demlow, Richard “Brian” (Dawn) Staup, Crystal (Jeff) Neumann and Lori Maldonado, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 10 great-greatgrandchildren, a sister, Francis Beck and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Toby Ann Staup, her granddaughter, Kim Pierson, her parents and five brothers and sisters. Funeral Services for June will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield. Cremation will follow. Private interment will be held in the spring at Ogden-Zion Cemetery, Blissfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M.– 2:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home.
