ADRIAN — A volunteer-run shuttle operated by Disabled American Veterans, known as the DAV Shuttle Van, logged thousands of miles last year helping local veterans reach medical care.

According to a year-end report presented to the Department of Veterans Affairs Executive Committee, the DAV shuttle recorded 498 volunteer hours in 2025. During that time, drivers traveled 8,307 miles and provided transportation for 141 veterans.

The service is powered by a small team of just five volunteer drivers, who help ensure veterans can attend medical appointments they might otherwise struggle to reach.

County officials say the shuttle plays a critical role in reducing transportation barriers, especially for older veterans and those with limited mobility or resources.

The DAV Shuttle Van operates as a free service and relies entirely on volunteer time and coordination.

Officials encouraged veterans who may need transportation assistance to contact the local Veterans Affairs office for information on eligibility and scheduling.

The program remains a key support service for veterans across the county.
