ADRIAN — Delays continue in state approval of the county’s Veterans Service Grant, creating funding uncertainty for local veterans’ services.

During its January meeting, the Department of Veterans Affairs Executive Committee reported that the county’s Fiscal Year 2026 grant application has been revised multiple times and is still awaiting approval from the state.

Because the grant has not yet been approved, the county is unable to submit its required first-quarter report. Officials said the first and second quarter reports will instead be combined once approval is received.

Veterans services staff noted that the delay is not unique to the county, with only a small number of counties statewide receiving approval so far.

Until the grant is finalized, reimbursement and reporting timelines remain on hold, though services to veterans continue as funding allows.

County officials said they are monitoring the situation and will submit required reports once the state grant process is completed.
