LANSING — State Rep. Nancy Jenkins-Arno says the Michigan House has approved legislation aimed at limiting student cell phone use during the school day.
The bill would require school districts to adopt formal policies governing when and how students can use their phones, with the goal of reducing classroom distractions and improving learning environments.
Jenkins-Arno says research shows unrestricted cell phone use can interfere with instruction and student focus, and she believes the state needs to take action to support teachers and students.
She explains why lawmakers moved the bill forward and what happens next as it heads to the Senate.
That was Representative Nancy Jenkins-Arno.
