WASHINGTON — Two major food recalls were announced this week, and consumers are being urged to check their refrigerators and pantries.
First, U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Meijer has recalled more than 38,000 gallons of steam-distilled bottled water after a floating black substance was found inside. The water was sold across the Midwest, including Michigan. Affected one-gallon jugs have a red cap, a best-by date of October 4, 2026, and lot code 39 dash 222. Consumers should not use the water and should return or dispose of it.
And second, the FDA expanded a recall of grated Pecorino Romano cheese due to possible listeria contamination. The recall now includes multiple brands supplied by Ambriola Company and affects products sold in November. Shoppers are advised not to eat the cheese and to discard or return it.
Consumers should follow recall instructions and seek refunds where available.
