TECUMSEH — The City of Tecumseh has awarded bids for its Russell Road Water Main Extension Project to All Seasons Underground and Tetra Tech, Inc.

Last summer, the Tecumseh City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing a bond for wastewater and capital improvements in the amount of $5.8 million.

One of the areas covered by the bond issue was a 12-inch water main extension on Russell Road, connecting from Mill Highway to Rogers Highway.

According to Tecumseh’s Utilities Department, the city currently has only one water distribution feed for the entire east side of the Raisin River, and installing a second water distribution source would create a parallel loop to improve water quality, reliability, and pressure.

During their Monday night meeting, the City Council voted to award the project to All Seasons Underground for the sum of $566,106.25, and awarded Tetra Tech Inc. the amount of $73,900 for overseeing the entire project.

The City Council voted 6 to 1 to approve the measure, with Councilmember Ronald Wimple as the lone “no” vote.
