Sally S. Gomez, age 82, passed on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the nursing home she was residing in. Sally was born Sally Sue Simpson on June 15, 1943 to Vivian M. (Comstock) and Leslie W. Simpson. Vivian later remarried to Robert Turnwald who adopted Sally in 1958. Sally graduated from St Mary’s Catholic Central High School in 1961. She married Joseph V. Gonzalez Jr. October 5, 1963. Together they had two sons and one daughter. Joseph (Stephanie) M. Gonzalez, Robert E Gonzalez and Gina (Ben) Ku. Sally remarried in 2001 to Bernardo Gomez. Her main career in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her other enjoyable career was working at Bethany Assembly of God Childcare. She loved working with the kids and was often referred to as Silly Sally. Besides working with kids as one of her jobs in life she also helped at Bethany Assembly with kids ministry. She attended St Mary’s Catholic Church, Bethany Assembly of God, Restoration Church and the Christian Mission. She loved singing, attending Bible studies and more. If she wasn’t helping at church she was probably working on a craft. If not to sell at a craft show it was to give as a gift to someone. Crafting was by far her favorite hobby. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Hazel and Charles Comstock, husband Joe, sister Leslie Simpson. Surviving family includes sister (Judi Beal), brother (Roger Ernest), children, three grandchildren (Joe Jr, Natalie and Leia), husband Bernardino, step children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2025, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI.
