TECUMSEH — Tecumseh’s Downtown Development Authority is continuing recruitment for its Public Art Advisory Committee, which helps guide artwork featured throughout the downtown district.
The committee uses creative placemaking principles as defined by the National Endowment for the Arts, a framework that applies art and culture to support community development and sense of place.
As part of the ongoing Art Trail program, the Downtown Development Authority continues its partnership with the Midwest Sculpture Initiative to recruit artists from across the Midwest and beyond.
Artwork is reviewed and recommended by an all-volunteer advisory committee made up of local artists and community leaders. The committee evaluates submissions with attention to a variety of artistic mediums, sizes, colors, and overall visual impact within the downtown environment.
Residents interested in serving on the Public Art Advisory Committee can apply through the Downtown Development Authority’s website.
