Duane Edward Horton, age 92 of Britton, MI, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Evangelical Home in Saline, MI, under the care of Arbor Hospice. He was born on March 3, 1933, in Blissfield, MI, the son of the late Zearl and Carie (Sipe) Horton. After graduating high school, Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army. On January 24, 1953, he was joined in marriage with Alice Agnes Kacer, and they enjoyed over fifty-three years together before her passing on July 14, 2006. After his honorable discharge from the army, Duane went to work for Tecumseh Products where he worked for over thirty years, before his retirement.
Duane was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing and gardening. He was particularly happy when he could spend time with his family and friends. Duane was a great lover of animals, but his favorite was his cat, Tabby.
Duane is survived by his son, Donald (Cyndi) Horton of Britton, MI, his daughter, Cathy Griffin of Baldwin, MI; and his seven grandchildren, Christopher (Antonelle) Horton, Rachel (Alex) Houpis, Justin (Bekah) Horton, Jason (Jessica) Andrews, Cory (Courtney) Andrews, Kelly (Mike) Sharp and Dannielle Horton and also many great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny; two brothers, Marvin and Gordon; and his two sisters, Edna Peacock and Alice Courtier.
Visitation for Duane will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Monday January 5, 2026, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Troy Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Macon Cemetery.
