LENAWEE CO. — Lenawee County officials say residents are making strong use of new recycling dumpsters placed in Onsted, Blissfield, and Hudson.

County recycling staff report increased participation at the sites, but are reminding residents to use the dumpsters responsibly, especially during the busy holiday season.

Officials say flattened cardboard helps create space, and recyclables should be placed loosely into the bins, not in bags or containers. If a dumpster is full, residents are asked to return another day or use the county recycling center on River Street in Adrian or the Goodwill donation center on Division Street.

Officials also warn against leaving items on the ground, as wet cardboard cannot be recycled. Plastic bags and Styrofoam are not accepted and can contaminate loads.

County staff thanked residents for helping keep recycling efforts running smoothly.
