ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Accounts Payable Committee is advancing budget amendments that project a year-end general fund surplus of roughly $620,000.
County finance officials reported the surplus follows year-end budget reconciliation and updated revenue projections. The positive balance is largely driven by interest income that exceeded earlier expectations, along with the timing of grant expenditures during the 2025 fiscal year.
The committee reviewed the amendments during its December meeting and voted unanimously to forward them to the full Lenawee County Board of Commissioners for consideration.
Officials noted the surplus reflects one-time factors and does not guarantee similar results in future budgets.
The proposed amendments will be reviewed by the full board at a future meeting before any final action is taken.
