ADRIAN — Adrian College campus safety officials are using the winter break to strengthen emergency preparedness across campus.
While students are away from Dec. 12 through Jan. 12, the college’s Campus Safety Department is inspecting security cameras, testing door locks, and reviewing emergency response procedures. Officials say the work is aimed at ensuring the campus is ready to respond quickly and effectively to any situation.
Students are automatically enrolled in Adrian College’s alert notification system, which is used during ongoing safety threats such as fires, hazardous material incidents, severe weather, or active shooter situations.
Campus officials say students will be reminded to review emergency procedures in the student handbook when they return. In an emergency, individuals are instructed to call 911 first, then contact Campus Safety, and remain with victims if it is safe to do so.
The department also reminds students that most campus crimes involve theft from unlocked or unattended areas and encourages basic prevention steps.
