WASHINGTON — Congressman Tim Walberg has recognized a Hillsdale County veteran as his December Veteran of the Month.
Walberg honored Renae Shircliff of Hillsdale during a presentation in Washington, D.C., marking her military service and continued work supporting veterans.
Shircliff served in the U.S. Army as a specialist fourth class, working as a tank mechanic and duty driver for her commanding officer. During her assignment in Stuttgart, Germany, she earned the Army Achievement Medal.
After leaving active duty, Shircliff continued serving the veteran community locally. She joined the Hillsdale County Veterans Affairs Office in 2013 and became director in 2018.
Under her leadership, Hillsdale County veterans received more than 32 million dollars in federal benefits in both 2022 and 2023, followed by another $17 million in 2024. Those benefits supported access to health care and services for veterans and their families.
Walberg’s office says nominations are open year-round for veterans in Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District.
