ADRIAN — An Adrian College student will perform with a full symphony orchestra after being selected through a national concerto competition.
Adrian College junior Drew Price has been chosen as one of seven winners in the Southern Adventist University Concerto Competition. Price will perform a marimba concerto movement with the Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra on February 1 in Collegedale, Tennessee.
Price is a music education major and performs with multiple Adrian College ensembles, including marching band, jazz band, orchestra and percussion ensemble. He has studied percussion for more than a decade under Adrian College band director Dan Kesterke.
The competition included instrumentalists from eighth grade through the undergraduate level. Price advanced from a video audition to a live performance round before a panel of judges.
This will mark Price’s first concerto movement performance with a symphony orchestra.
