LANSING — The Committee to Protect Health Care has launched a new advertising campaign urging Michigan House Republicans to restore funding for the Rx Kids program.

The group says lawmakers recently used a procedural maneuver to cut more than $600 million from previously approved projects, including Rx Kids, which provides direct financial support to new parents in 19 Michigan communities.

The Michigan Senate has already voted to restore most of that funding, but the measure still requires approval from the Republican-led House.

The Committee says it is spending 100-thousand dollars on the paid ad campaign.

The organization argues the funding is critical for helping families afford basic needs such as medical care, housing, diapers, and infant formula.

If the House does not act, the funding cuts will remain in place heading into the new year.
