ADRIAN — A former investigator in the Dee Warner murder case has been arrested out of state as prosecutors prepare for the upcoming trial of Dale Warner.

Kevin Greca, a retired detective with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, was taken into custody late last week in Lucas County, Ohio, by the U.S. Marshals Service. Michigan authorities sought Greca as a material witness in the Dee Warner case after he could not be located for subpoena service.

Court records show a Lenawee County judge authorized a material witness detainer, citing concerns that Greca’s testimony could be lost if he did not appear. The document states prosecutors considered him a necessary and material witness tied to the early stages of the investigation.

Greca worked on the case before the Michigan State Police assumed primary jurisdiction. He appeared in court Friday, bond was set at $50,000, and further proceedings are scheduled for Wednesday morning in Lenawee County Circuit Court.

WLEN will be in the courtroom tomorrow and will continue following developments.
