ADRIAN — Renovations continue to move forward at the Lenawee Historical Society Museum, with visible progress taking shape throughout the building.
Work crews are completing rooms one at a time, requiring artifacts to be temporarily moved to access walls for plastering and painting. Museum officials say the process is disruptive at times, but necessary to modernize the space.
Despite the construction, the museum remains about 90% accessible to visitors, even as work continues behind the scenes.
Since the November update, another room has been completed. Construction is set to begin this week in the Frazier Auditorium, the first large room included in the renovation. That phase is expected to take up to two weeks.
If work stays on schedule, plastering and painting in the auditorium could be finished by Christmas, allowing exhibits to be reinstalled.
The renovations are also giving the museum an opportunity to refresh long-standing exhibits that have remained largely unchanged for years, offering visitors an updated experience as work is completed.
