MICHIGAN — The Michigan High School Athletic Association is reporting nearly 1.4 million spectators attended postseason tournaments during the 2024–25 school year, marking the third straight year near that level.
According to the MHSAA attendance report, tournament events drew just under 1.4 million fans statewide, a slight decrease from last year but still the third-highest total over the past eight seasons.
Baseball led the way with a record-setting postseason, drawing more than 65,000 spectators overall. Attendance increased at every level of the baseball tournament, including district and quarterfinal rounds.
Football remained the most-attended MHSAA tournament sport, with more than 361,000 fans, while boys basketball ranked second overall.
Attendance also increased for several other sports, including ice hockey, team wrestling, boys soccer, gymnastics, and girls swimming and diving.
MHSAA officials say the numbers reflect continued strong interest in high school sports across Michigan, even with modest year-to-year fluctuations.
