ADRIAN — Lenawee County has approved a series of contracts to advance the airport’s tree-removal project, a key step in ensuring long-term aviation safety.
The Board of Commissioners endorsed a $251,145 contract with Alpine Tree Services for physical tree removal, along with a $47,540 contract with Mead and Hunt for construction administration and oversight.
The project is part of the county’s multiyear Land Acquisition Phase One plan, which addresses flight-path obstructions and Federal Aviation Administration compliance requirements.
The county will also receive a Michigan Department of Transportation grant reimbursing 95% of easement costs tied to the project once the final contract review is complete.
Work will continue into 2026, and officials say the upgrades remain critical for airport operations and public safety.
