Adrian College giving Tuesday sets new fundraising record

ADRIAN — More than a quarter of a million dollars was contributed to Adrian College on Giving Tuesday, as over 1,200 donors surpassed the institution’s goals.

In a statement, Jim Mahony, Adrian College Vice President of Development, called the support “absolutely incredible and inspiring,” and credited his staff with the initiative’s success.

Mahony said Adrian College began participating in the Giving Tuesday event in 2015, and donations have increased every year since, with this year seeing a total of over $295,900.

Donors were able to contribute to several Adrian College projects, though the area that received the most support was athletics, with over $148,600 directed to various teams.

Of these teams, NCAA baseball received the most funding, with 55 donors giving over $23,700.

Men’s NCAA hockey followed with $21,400 from 63 donors, and the women’s NCAA hockey team was third with 157 donors contributing $18,260.

Adrian College’s cheer team had the highest number of donors, with 255 contributors giving over $5,900.
