LANSING — The Michigan State Police have kicked off this year’s Stuff a Blue Goose campaign, the annual statewide effort to fill MSP patrol cars with new toys and non-perishable food for families in need.
The drive is now in its 16th year. It began in 2009 when troopers noticed a growing need in their communities and encouraged residents to help “stuff” patrol vehicles, known as Blue Geese, with holiday donations. That first effort filled 10 cruisers.
More than 30 events are planned across Michigan this season. All donated items will stay in the local area and be distributed to nearby charities serving families in need.
Last year, troopers collected over 12,000 toys, 4,000 pounds of food, and $50,000 in donations.
Event dates and locations are posted by individual MSP posts statewide.
