TECUMSEH — Living in Lenawee Realty hosted its annual Giving Tuesday Breakfast in Tecumseh, presenting more than $18,500 in donations to 26 local nonprofits.
The contributions come from the brokerage’s “Five Percent Off the Top” program, which donates five percent of every commission directly to a charity selected by each client.
Broker and team leader Janis Montalvo says the giving process starts at the closing table, where clients choose which organization will receive the contribution.
Montalvo says that approach has evolved over time. Before launching the program in 2022, she and her husband donated $100 a year to several organizations. The updated model, she says, provides far greater impact.

The firm has now contributed nearly $82,000 to Lenawee County nonprofits since the initiative began.
