Barbara Jeanette Cummings (née Schreiner), 91, passed away on November 19, 2025.
Born on December 28, 1933, in Columbus, OH, Barbara spent her early years in Illinois, where she raised her four children, before making Tecumseh, MI, her home for the last 30 years.
Barbara was known for her playful wit, upbeat spirit, and never-ending sense of humor. She adored hearing stories, sharing gossip, and being involved in events around the community. She found delight in the simple things-a game show, a caramel dessert, a new project to start, an errand to run. She also loved all dogs with a devotion only superseded by her love of family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (“Chuck”), and by three of her four children: Connie, Cheryl, and Craig. She is survived by her son, Curt, and her grandchildren; Mindy, Melissa, Ken, Amber, Curt, Cody, Zach, and Chloe (who will forever “love you more.”)
Barbara is also survived by her nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and the many people whose lives she brightened simply by being in it.
Those who love her take comfort in imagining her reunited with Chuck and her three children-happy, whole, and excitedly waiting for the rest of her family to someday join her.
A memorial gathering with a luncheon will be held on December 13, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Purse & Son Funeral Home in Tecumseh.
Final resting place is at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, Michigan.
