Gwendolyn Marie Maxam, age 75, of Britton, MI, passed away on November, 1, 2025.  Gwen Maxam was born into the Harlen and Ruth Maxam family on July 17, 1950. Gwen graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1968 and continued her education at Adrian College, earning a degree in Business. She worked for many years as an employee of Ford Motor Company in Saline, Michigan.  Gwen loved cooking and baking, and she entered her baked goods in the Cass County 4-H fair, where she won blue ribbons for her beautiful rose-decorated cupcakes and other goods. In her later years, she took up cake decorating and taught her brother Keith her techniques. Keith now decorates all his family birthday cakes! She also made chocolate candy and taught her niece and nephews and her neighbor’s granddaughter how to make many intricate chocolate designs. In 4-H, Gwen also showed her first dog and went to raise and show deerhounds and wolfhounds, winning various prestigious awards.  Surviving family members include one sister, Sue, and two brothers, Keith (Linda) and Dwayne (Molly), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends, especially Doug and Linda Wilkin, her neighbors. Her brother Gary preceded her in death, and brother Garth followed her in death.  With a spirit of creativity, Gwen began another artistic adventure producing pottery at the Adrian Center for the Arts. Her designs included cups with roses and deerhounds, pitchers, and other unique designs. She eventually sold her wares in art shows. Aunt Gwen even taught her young nephew how to create pottery, which he entered in the 4-H fair. His efforts won ribbons for him.  Memorial contributions honoring Gwen are welcomed by The Paws Cause Rescue (a cat rescue operation run by family siblings) at 230 Johnsville Brookville Rd, Brookfield, Ohio 45309 or ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman ICU, 5640 N. Adrian Highway, Adrian, MI 49221.  A private celebration of Gwen’s life will be held by the family at a later date.  Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
