TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Planning Commission has approved a redevelopment plan for the former Wendy’s property on West Chicago Boulevard.

According to the Planning Commission, the plan calls for splitting the existing building into two suites, with a Dunkin’ Donuts and coffee shop on the west side using the current drive-thru. Three additional suites will be built on the east side in what is now parking, with a Jimmy John’s set to occupy the end suite and include its own drive-thru.

Developer Mike Howard said construction is expected to be completed and businesses operational by late summer 2026. The commission voted 7–0 in favor of the special land use and site plan.

Howard noted the building will feature a unified design and said the proposed “short-stack” drive-thru for Jimmy John’s is tailored to its fast service model.
