
LANSING — As families prepare their favorite seasonal dishes, healthy cooking is the focus of a new message from Michigan State University Extension.
Public Health Educator Leena Abouzahr says comfort foods often come with extra fat, salt, and calories, but simple substitutions can improve nutrition without sacrificing taste.
Examples include swapping butter for olive oil, air frying instead of deep frying, or using low-fat yogurt in place of sour cream.
