Dan Alan Betzoldt, age 83, passed away at Hospice of Lenawee on
November 18,2025 with his family by his side. Dan was born on December 16, 1941 to Raymond and Carrie (Bird) Betzoldt. He spent the majority of his years in Macon and Tecumseh. Dan married Linda Randolph in September 1984, she survives. They shared many good times together traveling and flying their planes.
Dan was one of five sons. Jack, (Mary), Leroy ‘Buz’ (Kathy), Fred (Phyllis), Glenn (Laura) Betzoldt. Flying was second nature to Dan and his brothers, a skill past down by their father.
Dan was blessed with his children, son Mark Betzoldt, and daughter, Shawn Stevens (Todd) of Denton, Texas and three step children. Suzanne German, Dave Randolph and Deborah Lanier. Grandchildren include Derrick Miracle, Cory, Cassidee, Catrina Stevens, Nicole Randolph and Great granddaughter Liliana Shoemaker.
The Betzoldt family enjoyed their times together, be it holiday dinners or casual visits. Dan was loved and respected by his many Betzoldt nieces and nephews. He was especially close with his step children Dave Randolph, who he taught to fly and Suzanne German who travelled along on many trips.
A softspoken gentleman, Dan was an expert mechanic and pilot. He knew everything about the Meyers airplanes thanks to his dad. Loved living on Merillat airport. Watching every plane from his window.
He was a proud member of Eaa, attending Airventure 42 years, and being treasurer of Eaa Chapter 1190. Also, a member of Vintage Aircraft Association, Antique Aircraft Association, Michigan Shortwing Piper Club, Century Boat Club, Cars and coffee, Huron Valley Corvette Club. Needless to say, anything relating to planes, boat sans automobiles was right up Dans alley.
Burial will take place at Macon Cemetery on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
