Richard L. Creger – Clayton

Richard L. Creger, age 88 years, of Clayton, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Gaslight Village, Adrian. He was born on January 11, 1937, in Clayton, the son of Leonard and Queen (Dickerson) Creger.

Richard graduated from Hudson High School in 1955. He joined the United States Army and did an overseas assignment in Korea before returning to marry Betty Lou Jones on December 28, 1958, in Jasper. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2016. Richard worked at American Chain and Cable and farmed. When he retired from farming, he drove a bus for Lenawee Transportation. Richard was a member of the Clayton Bible Church and Clayton Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and taking her on adventures all around the world. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed canoeing, camping, hiking and playing church league softball. Richard was also a Scout Master for Troop #231of Clayton and an OA Member. He was a fun loving prankster, who was a friend to all.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Kirk (Carol) Creger, Shawn Creger and Amber (John “Jack” Benigno) Creger, three grandchildren, Gabriel Benigno, Joshua and Richard Creger, two sisters-in-law, Laurie Creger and Charlotte Creger and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Rawlen Creger, three brothers, Larry, Paul and Douglas Creger and a sister, Janice Blackburn.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 2-7 P.M. at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home, Hudson. Cremation will follow.
