MORENCI — Morenci voters have chosen their city’s next leaders in Tuesday’s election, filling both the mayor’s office and three City Council seats.
Tracy L. Schell will serve as Morenci’s next mayor after receiving 283 votes for the two-year term.
In the race for City Council, Gail Cleghorn led the five-candidate field with 242 votes, followed by Kori Christle with 164 and Kandi Speiser with 162.
Brad Lonis earned 147 votes, and Gary Pfund received 142.
The top three — Cleghorn, Christle, and Speiser — will each serve four-year terms on the Morenci City Council.
