
Doran Clare Caryl, Jr. “Bud”, 85, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away after a short illness on October 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, MI. Born on June 5, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Doran and Norma (Allure) Caryl Sr. Bud and his wife lived together in Brooklyn, MI, then enjoyed living in Fishers, IN, and Grand Marais, MI; Bud returned to Brooklyn as his final place of residence. Bud loved animals, especially dogs, and loved to read western novels. He enjoyed attending car shows with his wife Linda, where he could showcase his classic Plymouth Furry. Bud worked for Art Moehn of Jackson as a body shop manager and retired from Sentry Insurance as an insurance adjuster. During his retirement, he also served as a school board member in Burt Township (Grand Marais, MI). Doran is survived by his three children, Ken (Cindy) Caryl, Ryan (Mary Beth) Caryl, and Kristian Harbaugh; two grandchildren, Rob (Storm) Caryl and Jeremy (Sarah) Caryl; great-grandchildren; sister Jean (Caryl) Angell; several nieces and nephews, and Joe (Mike) Wusthoff, who was like a brother to Bud. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda (Beaupied) Caryl, son Doran (Buddy) Clare Caryl III, sister Norma Caryl and brother Ronald (Kathy) Caryl. A private memorial service will be held with immediate family members at a future date. Donations in memory of Bud may be sent to the Cascades Humane Society (Animal Shelter) in Jackson, MI.
