ADRIAN Adrian College’s Hickman Gallery is currently hosting the Athena Art Society Juried Art Exhibition 2025, featuring works created by women painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed media artists from across the Toledo area.

The exhibition will be on display through Wednesday, December 3rd, with a public reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 8.

Travis Erxleben, Chair of the Adrian College Department of Art and Design, said that the exhibition, “celebrates more than a century of artistic excellence and the enduring strength of women in the arts.”

Founded in 1903 in Toledo, Ohio, the Athena Art Society is one of the oldest women’s art organizations in the United States.

Established at a time when few opportunities existed for women artists, the group continues to foster the advancement of women in the visual arts through exhibitions, educational programs and community involvement.

This year’s juror is Barbara Miner, professor and chair of the Department of Art at the University of Toledo.

Miner has been an artist and scholar for more than 25 years and previously worked as a full-time studio ceramicist for a decade.

The Hickman Gallery is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment.
