JACKSON — Congressman Tim Walberg has named Dave Welihan of Jackson as the Veteran of the Month for October.
Walberg presented Welihan with a copy of the Congressional Record that includes his remarks honoring his service.
Welihan served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. After his military service, he spent decades helping other veterans. He worked as a Veteran Service Officer, led the American Legion Richard F. Smith Post 29, and later served as Director of the Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office.
While in that role, Welihan helped make sure five unclaimed veterans received proper military burials with honor.
Walberg’s office is now accepting submissions for the Veteran of the Month program. To nominate a veteran in the 5th District, complete the online nomination form on the Congressman’s website.
