LENAWEE CO — The Michigan Departments of Insurance and Financial Services and Health and Human Services are warning seniors about scams during the Medicare Open Enrollment period, which runs through December 7.

Officials say scammers often try to steal personal or financial information by pretending to represent Medicare or other agencies.

Seniors are urged not to share their Medicare ID numbers with anyone who contacts them by phone, online, or in person.

Residents can get free help reviewing plans by calling the MI Options call center at 800-803-7174.

Anyone who suspects a scam or high-pressure sales tactic should contact DIFS at Michigan.gov/DIFSComplaints or call 877-999-6442.
