
Richard J. Traeger, age 75, died Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at his home. Born December 8, 1949, in Maywood, CA, he was the son of Jerald Hanson and Peggy Luella (Shiflet) Traeger.
Richard married the former Monika Jaensch on March 3, 1973, in Spokane, WA. Together, they raised a family of three children and were blessed with over 52 years of devotion and cherished memories.
Locally known as “Dick Lyons” in the entertainment industry, Richard spent over 40 years employed as a Disc Jockey in California. He was fortunate to have met and visited with several celebrities. He also wrote several Christian stories and was a talented player of the guitar. He was a passionate Disney fan as well took pleasure in Old West culture and watching Westerns and Hallmark movies. He was a longtime member of Baptist Temple Church and Valley Bible Church in California, and more recently attended the Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church in Michigan.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his mother, Peggy; three children, Tricia Traeger of Adrian, Sean (Alice) Traeger of Pennsville, NJ, and Joshua (Deanna) Traeger of Adrian; a brother, Timothy (Claudia) Traeger of Dinuba, CA; sister, Sandra (Mark) Ruiz of Fresno, CA; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerald; a brother, David Traeger.
Cremation will take place with no services at this time.
