BRONSON — State Representative Jennifer Wortz and the City of Bronson have secured $609,000 in state funding for upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment facility.
The money will replace the aging ultraviolet disinfection system that was first installed in 1993. City officials say the old system has outlived its useful life and is now being operated manually after a lightning strike disabled its control panel.
Wortz said the funding shows how state and local leaders can work together to protect communities.
Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman added that the new system will improve water safety, reduce repair costs, and ensure reliable operation for years to come.
The funds were approved as part of the new state budget signed by Governor Whitmer earlier this month.
