
John Edward Staley, age 76, of Adrian, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, with the support of Elara Caring Hospice.
John was born on March 2, 1949, in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of Ron Staley and Barbara Dickerson. He graduated from Adrian High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. John was a truck driver while he was stationed in Germany.
After John returned to civilian life he worked in various factories. John was known for raising chickens and cock fighting. It was during this time he was tagged with the nickname “Chicken John”. He enjoyed going to casinos and luck was on his side when he won $16,000 playing Keno. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather by his family.
John is survived by his sons, Chad Staley and Eric (Amanda) Staley; grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Brandon, Bentley, Kendalyn and Pierce; great granddaughter, Aven; and sister, Eileen Comar. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Staley; son, Robert Staley; and sister, Rhonda Gutierrez.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian; with military honors taking place at 11:00 a.m.
