Melissa “Lissa” Kay Collins, age 72, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of her husband, Randy, and with the support of Elara Caring Hospice.

Lissa was born on July 23, 1953, in Royal Oak, MI, the third of Ray and Sylvia (Kivi) Swanson’s four children.  She grew up in Royal Oak and attended Kimball High School graduating in 1972.

On August 23, 1975, Lissa married Randall (Randy) Collins in Shelby Township, Michigan.  Over the next 50 years Lissa and Randy shared many adventures while raising their 3 children and traveling all over the United States.  Sometimes Lissa would ride with Randy on his trips as an over the road truck driver and other times they let loose and would travel by motorcycle; with Gatlinburg, TN being one of her favorite destinations.

Lissa treasured her family and cherished the memories they created.  She was an excellent baker and crocheted countless hats and scarves over the years. She enjoyed shopping and finding a good deal.  There are several memorable stories about Black Friday shopping where Lissa waited in line with her daughters for hours for a particular item and returned home without the prize.  Lissa worked as a veterinarian technician at Blissfield Veterinary services for 23 years and was well loved by her two-legged co-workers and four-legged patients.  She was fortunate to have her loyal dog “Rowdy” by her side as he provided constant affection and entertainment.

In addition to her husband, Randy, Lissa will be missed by their children, Jill (Tim) Albaugh, Kerri (Jason) Hayes and Brad Collins; grandchildren, Cassandra (Christian) Bower, Allison Sedlacek, Jonathan Sedlacek, Sedrick (Brenna) Gonzalez and Shad (Savannah) Tripp; one great-granddaughter, Clara Gonzalez; and sister, Lynn (Kevin) Knisley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bob and Randy Swanson.

Following Lissa’s wishes, cremation will take place with no services at this time.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield.
