LENAWEE CO. — The Materials Management Planning Committee has approved a new recycling pilot program for Lenawee County.
The nine-month program will be run by Lakeshore Recycling Systems. It will give residents access to 24-hour, seven-day-a-week single-stream recycling at three locations in the county. Each site will be serviced twice per week to handle demand.
The program will be paid for with existing grant dollars, so no new local taxes will be needed.
Officials say the pilot will help test long-term options for expanding recycling services countywide.
