LENAWEE CO. — The Hillshire Brands Company is recalling about 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says some items may have pieces of wood inside the batter.
The products were packaged between March 17 and September 26 of this year. They were sold online, in stores, to restaurants, schools, and even military locations.
They carry establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” on the label.
Five people have reported injuries. The company traced the issue to wooden sticks entering the process before battering. The USDA urges people, schools, and institutions not to eat these items. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
