
Meredith Marlene Sims, age 87, of Adrian, died Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born September 1, 1938, in Tecumseh, the daughter of August and Evelyn (Brant) Hoffmeister.
She married Cletus James Sims on November 23, 1957. Together, they raised a family of four children and celebrated 40 years of marriage before his sudden passing on January 4, 1998.
Meredith was formerly employed at Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh. She enjoyed watching baseball and keeping up with the activities and sporting events of her great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and was skilled at crocheting. She was a huge fan of country music and her favorite pastime was shopping. Above all, she was passionate about her family and friends, whom she deeply loved.
Surviving are three children, David Sims of Clinton, Lisa Wines of Charlotte, NC, and Linda (Larry) Burgett of Adrian; sister, Sharlene Drake of Adrian; nine grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Mandi, Adam, Rochelle, Meggan, Lance, Paige and Ryan; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lora Thayer; brother, Douglas Hoffmeister; and special friend, Dale Reinhart.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow, and inurnment will take place at a later date in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Adrian.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
