TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Board of Education has approved a plan to borrow up to $1.5 million if state school aid payments are delayed.
District leaders say the action is needed because Michigan lawmakers have not yet passed a budget. If a budget is not signed by October 10, schools across the state may not receive their October 20th payment.
Here is Tecumseh Director of Business Services Kelli Glenn.
Glenn also urged state leaders to move quickly.
Glenn explained that the borrowing authority is only a backup.
If the state passes a budget and payments arrive on time, the district will not need to use the funds.
