Bridge Repair in Jackson Begins Sept. 23

JACKSON — The Michigan Department of Transportation will close northbound Airport Road over I-94 in Jackson starting Tuesday, September 23.

Crews will replace bridge beams that were damaged when a high load struck the bridge in April.

The project is expected to last until December 15.

Northbound Airport Road will be closed for the full project, and drivers should expect delays. At times, I-94 will also see nighttime closures for demolition and new beam placement.

The work is part of a $1 million project that state officials say will support about 10 jobs.

MDOT says the repair will restore the bridge to safe condition for drivers.

Alternate routes are advised during the closure.
