IRISH HILLS — Community leaders came together last Friday for the annual State of the Irish Hills at Michigan International Speedway.
The event was sponsored by the Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Visit Lenawee and Experience Jackson. The program included opening remarks from Speedway President Joe Fowler and a panel on balancing growth, recreation, and community well-being.
Panelists represented the Region 2 Planning Commission, Visit Lenawee, Experience Jackson, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The group discussed topics like tourism, outdoor recreation, and workforce attraction. A key moment was the recognition of the Greater Irish Hills Inter-Municipality Committee, which joins 14 municipalities in planning for shared goals.
The committee has also created the Irish Hills Recreation Plan, aimed at long-term improvements for the region.
The Chamber says events like this build stronger connections that benefit residents and visitors.
