ADRIAN — Health insurance for county employees will rise more than 16% on average next year.
The county has five different plans. Together, the average increase is 16.14%. Some plans went up 13.55%, while others rose as high as 16.89%.
Out of 373 county employees, 289 are enrolled in high-deductible HSA plans. The county had budgeted for a 10 percent increase, but anything over that will be paid by employees.
The higher rates are expected to cost about $122,000 for both general fund and non-general fund budgets.
