BAY CITY The taps at Bay City’s Governor’s Quarters won’t be dispensing beer for a while after a Jeep crashed into the pub.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the taproom, located at 1304 South Wenona Street, at 2:27 a.m. on Friday for a crash, according to MLIVE.com.

They arrived to find a red Jeep Commander with its nose jutting into a brick wall of the building.

The Jeep, which was emitting smoke, caused significant damage to the basement’s dining room and taproom, and Consumers Energy was called to shut off the building’s gas.

A still-conscious 44-year-old Birch Run woman was behind the wheel when first responders arrived.

She was removed from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition.

A towing company removed the damaged Jeep from the establishment.

No one else was injured.

Police believe alcohol was a factor.

Governor’s Quarters posted numerous photos of the wreckage on its Facebook page, with the caption that the business, “will be closed for a while.”

The owners vowed to reopen once the debris is removed and the damage is mended.
