ADRIAN — State Representative Nancy Jenkins-Arno says Michigan is changing how grant money is given out.
Jenkins-Arno explained that all grant requests now need a lawmaker sponsor, and applications are posted online so the public can see them. She said lawmakers are focusing on projects that meet real needs in local communities.
Jenkins-Arno added that many towns cannot afford expensive work like water and sewer upgrades on their own. She said the new system helps make sure tax dollars are used wisely.
