MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a missing boater has been found in Lake Erie near Sterling State Park.
The search began after the man went missing Sunday evening while swimming near a boat in Frenchtown Township. Crews resumed the search Tuesday morning. Around 8:45 a.m., another boater reported seeing a body in the water.
The Sheriff’s Marine Division recovered the man and brought him to shore. The case is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau.
Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Sheriff’s Victim Service Unit helped at the scene.
